About Chronic Pain Champions
Chronic Pain Champions helps people understand chronic pain, develop practical self-management skills, and find ways to move forward with a life that is bigger than pain.
WHAT IS CHRONIC PAIN CHAMPIONS?
Chronic Pain Champions is an educational resource center created to help people living with chronic pain better understand their experience and discover evidence-informed strategies for moving forward.
The site brings together chronic pain education, practical self-management strategies, articles, books, courses, pain rehabilitation information, community resources, and perspectives from someone who has lived with chronic pain for more than 15 years.
The goal is not to promise a quick cure or suggest that pain is imaginary. The goal is to help people understand that persistent pain can be real while also recognizing that the way we understand and respond to pain can influence how much it controls our lives.
OUR MISSION
Chronic Pain Champions helps people understand and live with chronic pain — including fibromyalgia, nerve pain, migraine, central sensitization, back pain, and other chronic pain conditions — through evidence-informed education and strategies grounded in lived experience.

LEARN ABOUT PAIN REHABILITATION →Meet Tom Bowen
Having lived with chronic pain for more than 15 years, Tom Bowen understands how confusing and limiting persistent pain can become.
His experience, including participation in an interdisciplinary pain rehabilitation program at Mayo Clinic, helped change how he understood chronic pain and how he approached recovery.
Tom now shares what he has learned through writing, education, advocacy, and Chronic Pain Champions to help others find clarity, hope, and practical ways to move forward.
MEET TOM BOWEN →OUR APPROACH
Chronic pain is complex. Effective care and self-management often require looking beyond pain intensity alone and considering the biological, psychological, and social factors that influence the pain experience.
The resources on this site emphasize understanding pain, acceptance, active self-management, meaningful goals, communication, function, and participation in life.
The aim is not to tell everyone that the same strategy will work. Different people have different pain conditions, circumstances, needs, and goals. The purpose of Chronic Pain Champions is to provide information and perspectives that can help people make more informed decisions and have more useful conversations with their healthcare professionals.
