The book explores why pain can persist long after an injury has healed, how stress, emotions, and the nervous system can influence pain, and what you can do to reduce its impact and make your life bigger than the pain.

It's not about pushing through the pain. It's not about ignoring it. And it's not another temporary fix or false promise.

Consider these questions - not as an accusation, but as a reflection.

  • How many doctors or other healthcare providers have you seen regarding the pain?
  • How many X-rays or other tests have you had to diagnose the pain and find a potential cause and cure?
  • How many pills, injections, surgeries, and other interventions have you tried to relieve the pain?
  • How much money have you spent?
  • How much time have you spent?
  • Is pain holding you back?
  • Are you living the life you want?
  • Are you ready to take a more active role in managing chronic pain?

The information in the book may be appropriate for you if:

What you won't get

  • Medical advice. I'm not a medical professional. The content is a high-level overview for informational and educational purposes and should be used alongside the support of healthcare professionals.
  • Guarantees. Chronic pain often has no single cause or miracle cure. Progress looks different for everyone. Pain rehabilitation is not simply about reducing symptoms; it can also involve improving mood and sleep, increasing functional ability, and enhancing overall quality of life.
  • A heavy discussion of specific pain conditions. The focus is on broader principles and strategies that can be applied across different chronic pain experiences.
  • A quick or easy fix. Meaningful change can require work, an open mind, practice, and changes in how you think about, feel about, and respond to pain.
  • Pressure to buy other products or services.
